Judy Collins - Wildflowers (Mono Vinyl LP)
Mono Version on Black Vinyl LP!
Judy Collins' sixth studio album, Wildflowers, was released in 1967. In addition to three tracks written by Collins (the first time that she wrote her own material), Wildflowers contains two songs penned by a young Joni Mitchell, including Collins' hit version of "Both Sides Now."
The album also features three songs written by friend and folk contemporary Leonard Cohen: "Priests," which Cohen never released himself, plus "Sisters of Mercy" and "Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye," both of which first appeared on Wildflowers before being released on his 1967 debut album, Songs of Leonard Cohen.
Wildflowers is Judy Collins' highest charting album to date, reaching #5 on the Billboard 200. The music was arranged and conducted by Joshua Rifkin.
Judy Collins has inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable songwriting, personal life triumphs, and a firm commitment to social activism. In the 1960s, she evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 50-album body of work, and heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century.
Her blend of folk and meditative music paints a tapestry of soft, nurturing colors that transcends the mind of the listener and seeks one's soul.
